Twin Peaks Soundtrack Design Mix 2:
Night Life In Twin Peaks (Mixcloud Mix)

Twin Peaks Soundtrack Design Mix 2:
Night Life In Twin Peaks (72:33)

My Twin Peaks mix series continues with a trip into the dark underbelly of Twin Peaks. Dark soundscapes replace the more familiar jazz underpinnings of the town. Murder, vengeful husbands, illegal activity, and even otherwordly beings; this mix focuses on the darker aspects of the soundtrack, particularly “Unease Motif”, “OAM’s Theme” "Renault's Theme" and “Danger Theme”. Some are based on mixes heard in the show (some of which I’ve extended), and I've created some original mixes as well.

Listen to the mix on Mixcloud here“Now it’s dark.”

1. Audrey's Dance (OAM & Renault Mix) (4:59)
Although eventually used separately, as well as mixed with “Unease Motif” as part of the mix track “Night Life In Twin Peaks”, the clarinet solos that eventually became “The One-Armed Man's Theme” & “Jean Renault’s Theme” started life as alternate solo overlays for “Freshly Squeezed &/or Audrey’s Dance”. Here is what they would sound like as originally envisioned- mixed over the “clean” version of “Audrey’s Dance” (slightly sped-up to match the Freshly Squeezed and Clarinet solos’ speed).
Mix includes:
- One-Armed Man’s Theme (Solo Clarinet Improv)
- Jean Renault’s Theme (Solo Bass Clarinet)
- Audrey’s Dance (Clean) [slightly sped up]

2. Laura Palmer's Theme (Baritone Guitar Punctuation) (Danger Mix) (2:30)
Recreation of the mix heard in episode 8.
(Cooper lays out all the evidence in the conference room)
Mix includes:
- Laura Palmer's Theme (Baritone Guitar Punctuation)

4. Unease Motif (The Woods) (Night Life Mix) (3:29)
Recreation of the original soundtrack mix “Night Life In Twin Peaks” but without the solo percussion track.

- Unease Motif (The Woods)
- One-Armed Man’s Theme (Solo Clarinet Improv)
- Jean Renault’s Theme (Solo Bass Clarinet)

    1. Since they are made up from copyrighted components, MixCloud doesn't allow downloading for legal reasons. I thought it was a great way to share them with people though.

    3. Ross, could you indicate timestamps for each track in your mixes. I'm trying to separate them into individual files but some are more difficult ot others.

    2. VERY Interested! MORE, please! I also have a question about the "Twin Peaks Chronological Soundtrack". For Episode 05 you list "Unease Motif (The Woods) (Reverse Version) [Twin Peaks Archive]". I have checked my "Twin Peaks Archive" files and cannot find the track. As a place holder, I just made my own reverse copy of "Unease Motif (The Woods)". Can you please specify more what track that should be? I want my soundtrack to be as complete and accurate as possible :)

    3. Sure- the version that was released from the Archive actually IS the "Reverse Version" (even though it wasn't specified as such). Meaning it is actually the track played backwards. Both the forward and reverse versions were used in the series. I created a normal "forwards" version for myself be reversing the released version. I can put it in a future mix.

    4. Ha ha, so I made a "forwards" version myself, thinking it was backwards.... So, Episode 02 "Unease Motif (The Woods)" should be the forward version? (meaning It should be the Episode 05 track I reversed to forward?).... Um, Yeah, please put in you next wonderful mix. "There's always music in the air" :)
